You can become what is called a “resident with Pensionado status”
This status only applies to certain nationalities, such as Dutch, Belgian, and Swiss.
You can NOT work on St. Maarten if you have the ‘Pensionado status ‘.
Your world income will be taxed at a favorable rate.
You can stay legally in St. Maarten for 90 days.
After which time you will leave and go to a different country.
Upon your return you will have another 90 days.
You can also apply for a work permit.
However, you must be specialized in a field where the person cannot be found on St. Maarten.
Alternatively, you can create your own company.
Typically, it takes approximately 6 months to get this done.
